Highlights

International Women’s Day is a chance to rise and demand action and to deliver on the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action to make the world equal and better for everyone.

On 8 March 2025, join us to celebrate International Women’s Day under the theme, “For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.”

Adopted in 1995 by 189 countries, the Beijing Declaration calls upon governments, the international community and civil society, including non-governmental organizations and the private sector, to take strategic action.

Following the 7 October 2023 brutal attack by Hamas on Israel, and the ensuing Israeli military bombardment of Gaza, UN Women has worked to analyse the differentiated impact on women, men, boys, and girls, to ensure adequate responses to their needs.

The sixty-eighth session of the Commission on the Status of Women will take place from 11 to 22 March 2024. Representatives of Member States, UN entities, and ECOSOC-accredited non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from all regions of the world are invited to contribute to the session.
